Before you start
- You need full control of the Page yourself: only those people can add or remove someone.
- The person needs a Facebook account. Ask for their profile link or the account's email, so you don't invite someone with the same name.
- The menus below are those of current Pages (the "New Pages Experience"). If you can't find "Page access", update the app or use a computer.
On a computer
- Log into Facebook, click your photo at the top right, then your Page name to switch to it.
- Click the photo again (now the Page's), then Settings & privacy › Settings.
- In the left menu, choose Page access (sometimes under "New Pages Experience").
- Next to People with Facebook access, click Add New, then Next.
- Type the person's name or email and select them.
- Leave full control off for partial access, or switch it on for a real admin. Click Give access and confirm with your password.
On your phone (Facebook app)
- Open the ☰ menu (bottom right on iPhone, top right on Android) and tap your Page name to switch to it.
- Open the menu again, then Settings & privacy › Settings.
- Under Page setup, tap Page access.
- Tap Add New next to "People with Facebook access", find the person, choose the access, confirm with your password.
No such menu? Common on older app versions: update the app, or do it once from a computer.
With Meta Business Suite (Page and Instagram together)
If your Page sits in a business portfolio, or you also want to give Instagram access, use Meta Business Suite (business.facebook.com):
- Open Settings (the gear at the bottom left), then People.
- Click Invite people and enter the person's email address.
- Choose the accounts to hand over (your Facebook Page, your Instagram account) and the access level for each.
- Send the invitation: the person receives it by email and accepts it.
For an agency with its own business portfolio, it is cleaner to add it as a partner (Settings › Partners): you don't manage its staff one by one, and you remove the whole agency at once.
Remove access or transfer the Page
- Remove someone: Page access, the three dots next to their name, Remove. Do it the day an employee or provider leaves.
- Transfer the Page (selling the business, new manager): give full control to the new owner, check they accepted, then remove your own access.
- Lost access because a former provider was the only admin? Ask them to add you back. If they don't answer, Meta has a Page recovery form, but it is slow: always keep at least two trusted people with full control, including yourself.
Security rules worth keeping
- Never give your password, not even "just for today".
- Give partial access by default, full control only to partners in the business.
- Turn on two-factor authentication on your own account: a Page is almost always lost through its admin's account.
- Once a quarter, open Page access and remove people who no longer need it.
